haha that's the punishment for stupidity that 'griefer' got hundreds of millions if not billions in loot. i'd say a very successful act of piracy, grats.

For example, if Concord is required to destroy a ship, due to illegal activities like you described, that player recieves NO INSURANCE payout. They get zero, nothing, nada. Not even the gratuity payment. The reasoning is straightforward and completely logical:
Dear Ganker: You have been identifed undertaking illegal activities in Empire Space that have resulted in a significant expenditure of Empire resouces. Consequently all proceeds from your insurance payout have been diverted to offset these expenses and to compensate losses incurred by law abiding citizens caused by your actions.
Lets face it, Concond witnessed the action and were required to expend resources to defend someone.
Since many players have accidentally provoked Concords wrath on at least one occasion (like me) the first time it happens your ship would be insured. The second time your s**t outta luck. I suggest this would discourage gankers, like the ones described here, from picking on defenseless ships in Empire space. And the thought that the victim would benefit from their illegal activities (instead of them) would add that bit of poetic justice that the game tends to lack.
Dear lunatic...
You seriously expect to take a WARship into a place where theres more than 50 npc battleships trying to kill you and you want insurance?
With respect, I have to decline your application for insurance.
See, it works both ways.
building on the great rl analogies in this thread i propose to remove insurance from all combat ships, whether they are used in piracy, war or npc killing.
